Hello my friends!!
As some of you might know that I joined the Ipoh International Run 2009. This was the second time I took part so far! The first time was when I was 18. I still remember it was a sort-of "farewell" for me as I was about to leave Malaysia. In fact it was a decision to quit my studies. Anyway it was a long story! =)
Well, on the 4th July 2009, I woke up as early as 4.45am just to prepare myself. Guess what...it was raining cats and dogs! Oh no....How to run?? Dear and I persevered and we went ahead. We picked up two youth before heading directly to stadium. We reached there about 615am and it was still raining.
We just prayed that the rain will stop. We waited in the car for about 20 minutes. Finally we had no choice but to run down as the reporting time was until 6.45am. I was thinking...."rain..rain...go away...come again some other day..."
All the competitors waited until 7am and they started to make noise. We were 15 minutes behind the proposed flag-off time. I saw a lot of professional runners. They were no other than the Blacks...dear saw a national walker and iron man...just to name a few
Dear and I were shocked when we found out that there were about 2000++ participants for men open's category while 600++ for women open's category! Our chances to wince were shattered. To be honest, I never expect myself to win anything...a cert also seems almost impossible to me! Me and dear were supporting each other...Come on....JUST DO IT!!
Even the rain was heavy, that did not stopped all the participants to run...We ran...ran..and ran. Within 5 minutes, dear was out of my sight. He can run =) Aiks, that doesn't mean I can't! =P
I ran as long as my feet can carry me...Guess what...God is so good... He gave me strength and the fighting spirit...Check it out...I ran 10 km without even stopping for a second! Forget the water they provided along the route...The Lord asked me to keep moving forward! I obeyed...and I completed the run within 80 minutes. I took about an hour plus. I was at the 81 position! I was so shocked and happy at the same time. Darling was so proud of me.
However, dear was not that fortunate. He completed the run within 50 minutes and yet he did not receive anything. The competition was so stiff with all the male runners. He was competing with 2000++ runners.
I received a certificate and a medal. I can smell the sweetness of victory. It was not that I was trying to prove that I was great..but deep down I did it with because of God...
We then went back to clean-up before heading to church for the second service.
It was fun and we enjoyed it so much!!
As for now....see you guys!!
